HISTORY

From a meager beginning of a few donated books (1933), the Library has grown into a modern facility with more than 54,000 volumes, including books, periodicals, newspapers, audio and videotapes/CDs, and DVDs. The current building was constructed in 1976, expanded in 1995 and again in 2006.

Taneyhills Community Library is a private, nonprofit organization. Its financial support comes from the Library Club, which raises funds from numerous sources including a Thrift Shop, Used Book Store, donations, memorial gifts, grant projects and other events. The Library, at this time, receives no local, State, or Federal monies. Many volunteers, along with two paid Library Clerks, serve to perform the various day-to-day operations, under the direction of a paid Library Director.
